We will begin the evening at Zagat-rated August Moon for a delightful pre-show reception and meal. During the reception a cash bar will be available, and dinner will include a garden salad, choice of entrees served with rice and vegetables, and fresh fruit for dessert.
After dinner, we will walk to Theatre Horizon for a viewing of "Spring Awakening" in Norristown's newest theater, Theatre Horizon. As part of the program, we will enjoy remarks by Richard W. Rogers Jr. '90, President of the Norristown Arts Council, and local resident and F&M Truman Scholar Akbar Hossain '13, as well as a question and answer session with the show's director and featured actors.
"Spring Awakening" is a Tony Award-winning show with book and lyrics by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik and directed by Matthew Decker. It is an exhilarating rock musical about adolescents colliding with each other and with a world that cannot contain their desires. Set in repressive 19th century Germany, the explosive choreography and stunning score by Grammy Award winner Sheik evoke adolescence in violent bloom. Please note this program is for mature audiences only (ages 16 and older) due to sexual situations and language.
According to The New York Times, "This brave new musical, haunting and electrifying by turns, restores the thrill to that shattering transformation that stirs in all our souls." Click here to watch a trailer for Theatre Horizon’s "Spring Awakening."
Free parking is available in August Moon's parking lot on Main Street, at the County Parking Lot at DeKalb and Airy Streets, and on DeKalb Street in front of the theater.
